Home Educators Programme: Mission Deliver Clean Water

How can you get clean water to people when a disaster has damaged the systems they rely on? Join fellow home educators as part of a Royal Marines Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) task group and take on the challenge of delivering this vital resource to a community in need.

Working together, you will design and construct a hydraulic or pump-powered system capable of moving clean water to a damaged community. Test your system, investigate how water moves and make improvements to see if you can make your solution more efficient and reliable.

Inspired by the real-world humanitarian work of the Royal Marines, this hands-on challenge introduces STEM concepts including hydraulics, fluid dynamics, water treatment and environmental science. Along the way, you will develop practical skills in teamwork, communication, creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking – skills that can be used in both military roles and a wide range of civilian careers.

Designed by STEM specialist Rob Bennett for home educators, to complement the new Royal Marines Experience, the session is part of our year-long Mission Critical programme for home educators. It provides an opportunity to learn through experimentation, work alongside other Mission Critical recruits and discover how STEM can help solve real-world problems. Younger siblings can also get involved with activities designed especially for them.

Tickets include access to the full Historic Dockyard site on this day, so you can continue your adventure before or after the session.
